"That's the deal, alright?" Making deals is the big thing right now. For a long time, in order to walk you through the happenings of each moment... so you are prepared, of course, we explain each step and then say, "That's the deal, alright?" Since then you make deals with your friends, with your friends parents, with your "guys," and with anyone that will listen. At the Mount Juliet Christmas Parade, after a person in the parade handed you a package of M&M's, you grabbed Keenan's hand and said "I'm going to share my M&M's with you Keenan, but you can't spill them. That's the deal, alright?"
Toy Story II, A Bug's Life and Cinderella (for the mice, not the princess) are your favorite movies. Your favorite holiday movie to your daddy's delight is Rudolf or Rudog, as you say, (the old claymation version). Zurg from Toy Story and Abominable (Bominable) are regular players in our little world. You always let us know we are safe from them and that they can't get us. Sometimes I wonder if you are actually scared of them, but then you joke about it like you aren't. We also explained how they are pretend and not real, so you tell us "Zurg is not real, he's tend, alright mom?" "Bominable isn't real, he tend Dad!" So while you seem to understand, there are moments where I think you might think they are real.
You are really funny... on a regular basis. It makes us laugh out loud most of the time. Sometimes you realize you are funny and you laugh with us. Sometimes you think we are laughing at you and it makes you mad. We are never laughing at you, but you are pretty hilarious! So... when it is clear you are feeling embarrassed or upset, we stop and explain why we are laughing, but usually you still just don't like it. You are quite sensitive to other's feedback.
You also regurgitate what we teach you on a regular basis. It sounds a little like you are reminding yourself of things we have shared with you. Like, you are really good with a butter knife, but one night at dinner you proceeded to put it in your mouth to lick off the sauce. We shared how important it is to not lick a knife and ever since, when you see a knife, you tell us "We don't lick knives"
I picked you up from school on Friday and as we were driving I peaked back on you in your car seat... I had a terrifyingly wonderful moment when I realized that you look like a big girl. Like a real little girl... not my little baby anymore. Don't get me wrong, you will always be my baby, but between your articulate vocabulary, losing your baby fat, your vast imaginary world and your reasoning ability, I am having the cliche moment of "It's all going by TOOOOOO fast!"
Friday night (the 12th) we had dinner with some friends, Ryan, Michelle, Epleata and Willow. We had a wonderful night full of fun and silliness... you love having friends over! Toward the end of the night we were in the basement and you stood up on the hearth and said "You don't talk, okay? I sing a song and you don't talk, okay?" Then you proceeded to sing a song, dance and be my incredible little performer... I was amazed! Then we clapped and you BOWED! That's my girl ;-)
Tonight, December 13th, you came to STC to see me perform in FemmeProv, which was a blast. You were adorable, saying "Hi Mommy!" and laughing with squeals when the audience laughed at us. It made my heart so happy to have you there... even if your hair was ragamuffin ;-)
I love you sweet baby girl! You are such a joy!
Mommy
